US INITIATIVES

Although, the US hasn't kept pace with European and Japanese legislation on takeback and toxic material phase-outs for electrical equipment, several states have instituted bans on the municipal landfilling of CRT monitors due to the large lead content and the failure of this equipment to pass the US EPA Toxic Characteristic Leachate Procedure (TCLP) Test.

States across America are proposing legislation on e-waste. See our interactive map and discover if your state is developing legislation.

In addition, organizations and local governments are developing resolutions for adopting green procurement guidelines when purchasing IT equipment.
