CFC-Elimination

Chlorofluorocarbons are a family of chemicals that have been found to deplete the ozone layer and were suggested for phase-out by the Montreal Protocol in 1990. The following companies have statements regarding the phaseout of CFCs in their manufacturing processes in their most recent environmental reports.

Apple
CFCs and HCFCs are banned/restricted materials

Brother
Specified CFCs are banned

Dell
No ozone depleting CFCs or HCFCs are used in manufacturing processes

Epson
Has achieved total elimination of specific CFCs that destroy the ozone layer

Hewlett-Packard   
Has eliminated all manufacturing process uses of ozone-depleting substances

IBM
Has eliminated use of CFCs from its manufacturing processes

Oki
CFCs are prohibited substances

Panasonic
CFCs are prohibited compounds

Philips
Ozone depleting compounds are prohibited

Samsung
Chemical substances known to deplete the earth’s ozone layer are now banned from the company production processes.

Sony
CFCs and HCFCs are prohibited

Toshiba
CFCs are prohibited
