From 1979-1982, Kaiser fought tougher air pollution standards
required by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

In 1985, Kaiser was identified by the Environmental Protection
Agency as a major air pollution source.

In 1990, Kaiser ranked Number 1 in Santa Clara County as the
worst toxic air polluter by the Bay Area Air Quality Management

In 1991, Kaiser was one of nine South Bay companies told to warn
nearby residents of potential cancer risks because of their highly toxic

In 1993, Bay Area Air Quality Management District , Kaiser was
listed on the Toxic Hot Spot list of the worst air polluters in California.

In 1995-96, Kaiser Cement was allowed to burn tires for as a 90-day
experiment on the environmental and human health impacts. The
results showed an increase in dioxin, benzene, lead and mercury

showed an increase in cancer risk and PM10 and Nitrous Oxide
