The Electronic's Recyclers Pledge of True Stewardship! While the U.S. government and major electronics manufacturers have failed to respond to the crisis of the growing piles of e-waste, hope is on the horizon. A corps of concerned, private sector electronics recyclers responded to the challenge of dealing with the largest growing toxic waste crisis by pledging to meet the world’s strictest standards for handling e-waste. (February 25, 2003)

European Union publishes e-waste directives Read the directives and an article published in Brussels. SVTC press release. (February 18, 2003)

SVTC Board Passes Unanimous Resolution:No War with Iraq! The resolution echoes the growing sentiments of hundreds of cities, organizations and others around the world. See a picture. (February 16, 2003)

2003 Silicon Valley Environmental Index. The new Environmental Index highlights environmental trends in Silicon Valley and depicts mixed progress where fossil fuel use, population growth, and species protection remain key challenges. The report was developed by SVTC Staff and co-signed by SVTC Executive Director, Ted Smith. (February 14, 2003)

Moffett Field and Superfund Clean-up News!
The Navy and NASA agreed to clean up Moffett Field's Eastern Diked Marsh to a level that would protect the Great Blue Heron. In other news, toxics at Mountain View Superfund sites are more dangerous than previously thought. The EPA is investigating potential impacts to human health. Read SVTC's Statement! (January 2003)
